English Education (NCTE)

 

 

The Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education: English Concentration consists of a 120 semester-hour curriculum that includes general education courses required by the University and coursework in education required for teacher certification. The program is nationally recognized  by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), "devoted to improving the teaching and learning of English and the language arts at all levels of education."

Assessment of Content Knowledge Assessment


State Licensure Exam: Praxis II Content Test

The state of Louisiana requires the passing of a content knowledge test (e.g., Praxis II Content Test) as a condition of teacher certification. The undergraduate teacher education program at Louisiana Tech University requires the passing of this test prior to admission into the teacher candidate's final clinical practice (e.g., student teaching). The Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) require passing scores for program admission.

Praxis PLT Test

The state of Louisiana requires the passing of the Praxis II: Principles of Learning and Teaching test as a condition of teacher certification. The undergraduate and post baccalaureate (certfication-only and M.A.T.) teacher education programs at Louisiana Tech University require the passing of this test prior to admission into the teacher candidate's final clinical practice (e.g., student teaching or internship).
