Below is a list of software resources available online that may be of interest to students and faculty. This list is provided only as a reference, and should not be considered to be an endorsement of any particular product over another, nor should support or training for a product be expected because of its inclusion here. Ultimately, it is up to the end user to determine which product is right for their needs.

Productivity Software

Microsoft Office 365 The cloud-based version of Microsoft Office, Office 365 is now available for free to students and faculty at qualifying educational institutions (including Louisiana Tech University). You can sign up for Office 365 at www.office.com/getOffice365 using your @LaTech.edu e-mail address. Windows

MindMaple MindMaple is a concept mapping software package that is available in a free (lite) as well as a premium (Pro) version. A unique feature with this particular program is the support for online collaboration. Windows

Statistical Analysis

IRT IRT is a software package utilized for item response theory testing, particularly in social science research. The student version of IRT features some limitations, but may be useful for gaining familiarity with the software or for limited research. Windows Only
LISREL LISREL is a software package utilized for structural equation modeling, particularly in social science research. The student version of LISREL features some limitations, but may be useful for gaining familiarity with the software or for limited research. Windows Only
SAS University Edition SAS University Edition is a free version of SAS intended for use by students and faculty. Note that SAS University does not include all the same features as more advanced versions of SAS. Also note that this version of SAS operates through your Web browser and requires running a virtual server on your computer using virtualization software such as VirtualBox. Windows Mac

VirtualBox VirtualBox is a free, open source virtualization software package that allows the creation and use of virtual machines on almost any type of host imaginable.  Windows
