Program Overview

All children can learn, but not all children learn the same way. Many children have individualized instructional needs that require special training and education for an instructor to address. As a special education teacher, you can ensure that every student receives an education that allows them to succeed. 

Consisting of a rigorous, 129 credit-hour curriculum, the Elementary Education degree at Louisiana Tech, will prepare you for the rewarding career of teaching young children who have special educational needs.

Curriculum

The B.S. in Elementary Education and Special Education Mild/Moderate is a 129 credit-hour degree that includes 54 hours of general education coursework, 27 hours in primary content area instruction, 21 hours in knowledge of the learner and learning environment, 18 hours in methodology and teaching, and 9 hours of additional coursework.
