Szymanski to present as part of Texas A&M lecture series
Dr. David Szymanski, associate professor of kinesiology and strength and conditioning coach for Louisiana Tech’s baseball team, will be a featured presenter Wednesday during a lecture series hosted by Texas A&M University’s Department of Health and Kinesiology.
“Kinesiology Diversification: Investigating Our Professional Spectrum through Research & Application,” will feature 12 weekly lectures covering a range of topics including the science of health and conditioning practices, exercise and sports nutrition, sports performance, and the history, evolution and future innovations of sport training. Series speakers include university professors and researchers, professional and collegiate strength coaches and experts representing a variety of other kinesiology concentrations.
Szymanski, who holds the Eva Cunningham Endowed Professorship in Education at Louisiana Tech, will give a presentation titled, “The Scientific Quest for Excellence in Baseball Performance Knowledge.” The lecture will include information that discusses Szymanski’s academic, playing, and coaching history so individuals will better understand his quest for baseball performance knowledge.
“I hope that those who attend the presentation, especially the undergraduate and graduate students, will come away with a sense that the road less traveled by can be very rewarding and can provide experiences and opportunities that they never thought could happen,” said Szymanski. “Furthermore, I hope they will understand that with the help of others as well as one’s own hard work, consistent drive for excellence, and a tenacious attitude, they can have a successful career that is very fulfilling.”
Much of Szymanski’s presentation will focus on the research and training articles he has written and the presentations he’s given over the last 15 years that have contributed to the body of evidence that relates to enhancing baseball performance. The latter part of the presentation will address Szymanski’s various positions at Louisiana Tech and within the National Strength and Conditioning Association, which provide his core professional philosophy, and the professional accomplishments for which he is most proud.
“I hope I can have a positive impact on those that attend my lecture and that they learn something from the presentation that will help them in their future,” Szymanski said.
The lecture series will take place in Kyle Field’s Burkhart Auditorium on the Texas A&M campus every Wednesday afternoon between September and November, and will be open to the public.
