Jesse Kinne currently serves as Instructor of Music Industry Studies and Coordinator of Music Theory at Louisiana Tech University. His dissertation (in progress) analyzes how layered rhythms interact to produce the feeling of musical groove. Additionally, he is currently developing an anthology entitled Popular Music and Video Games, co-edited with William O’Hara (Gettysburg University). Kinne’s conference presentations address a variety of issues relating to groove, rhythm & meter, rock music, video game music, and the pedagogy of music theory. He serves on the board of the Society for the Study of Sound and Music in Games, and is a regular participant in the annual meetings of the Society for Music Theory, Music and the Moving Image, and the North American Conference on Video Game Music. Besides core music theory and aural skills, Kinne’s teaching includes courses on Dave Matthews Band, Video Game Music Composition & Aesthetics, History of Rock & Jazz, Analysis of Groove, and Music Industry Technology.
