  Call Me MiSTER (Mentors Instructing Students Toward Effective Role Models), an innovative new program focused on increasing the number of expertly-trained teachers from diverse backgrounds, is being launched this fall by Louisiana Tech University’s College of Education in an effort to recruit and support African American males to become highly-qualified elementary school teachers.

• Dogs with A Cause
  

  Dogs with A Cause began in the fall of 2016 as a collaboration between the Louisiana Tech Men’s Basketball Team and the College of Education Clinical Residency Center. Through this character education program, athletes are “coached” by clinical residents as they prepare to team teach in their adopted classrooms. This program will continue to adopt two of Louisiana Tech’s 16 athletic teams over the next 7 years bringing prestige to the teaching profession, engaging residents in curriculum design, providing community service opportunities for athletes, and most importantly, making a difference in the lives of each child touched by this program
